Site Preparation

Geological survey: Use geological radar or borehole sampling to detect soil type (e.g. sandy soil, clay, rock) and determine the foundation bearing capacity. Complex terrain needs to assess the slope, rock distribution and groundwater level to avoid the risk of collapsing the hole or jamming the drill.

Drilling Process

Drilling rig positioning and parameter setting: calibrate the drilling rig according to the designed hole position, adjust the inclination angle (usually 0-15°) and azimuth angle, and start the hydraulic system. Adjust the shaft pressure and rotating speed according to the soft and hard rock layer.

Drilling Execution: Soft soil layer: high-speed drilling, with high-pressure water circulation for slag removal.

Hard rock layer: low speed and slow pressure, use alloy bit and change it regularly.

Drilling monitoring: Observe the torque and propulsion resistance, and pause for investigation when abnormal (such as jammed drilling requires reverse rotation to lift the drill).

Piling and Fixing

Screw ground pile installation:Use special drilling rig to screw the hot-dip galvanised screw ground pile into the hole, the torque is controlled at 50-200N-m, and the depth reaches the design elevation. The flange is connected to the photovoltaic bracket, and the lateral stability is enhanced by bolt fastening.

Quality inspection:Verify the pile foundation pull-out force by tensile tester (need to be ≥1.2 times of the design value), unqualified piles need to be replenished or reinforced.

Post-work Maintenance

Clean the residual rock chips on the drill bit and drill pipe, check the hydraulic oil level and pipeline sealing. Replace the worn drill bit (alloy teeth need to be replaced when the loss of alloy teeth is >50%).
