Working principle

What is the working principle of the fully hydraulic rope coring drill?

1. Drilling stage:

The hydraulic motor drives the drill pipe to rotate, the diamond drill bit cuts the rock formation, and the high-pressure mud pump delivers the flushing fluid to the bottom of the hole through the center hole of the drill pipe, cools the drill bit and carries the cuttings back to the surface.
Features of rope coring: When the core fills the coring tube, there is no need to lift the drill. The inner tube assembly (including the core) is lifted out of the drill pipe by the wire rope, and the outer drill pipe continues to remain in the hole.

2. Coring stage:

The salvage is lowered by the winch and docked with the salvage head of the inner tube assembly. The hydraulic winch quickly recovers the inner tube to complete the coring (reducing the drilling time by more than 70% compared with conventional drilling rigs).
After the inner tube is taken out, the spare inner tube assembly is replaced and drilling continues to achieve “continuous coring without lifting the drill”.

Daily Maintenance

Key lubrication points: the moving parts such as popping card mechanism, suspension ring and thrust bearing need to be filled with lithium grease daily. The main/vice wire rope should be lubricated once a week, and grease should be evenly applied to each share to prevent rust and corrosion. Regularly clean the mud pump screen to prevent rock dust from clogging the pipeline. Check the valve body, valve plug and other seals to ensure stable pump pressure.

Maintenance after use

Comprehensively clean the drilling rig after use, disassemble the inner/outer pipe assembly, remove the rock dust and mud residue, and focus on cleaning the precision parts such as the cartridge chamber and bearings. Blow dry the inside of the drill pipe with compressed air to prevent rust and corrosion. Then store the equipment in a dry and ventilated environment with exposed metal parts coated with antirust oil and covered with a dust cover. Run the equipment without load for 10 minutes every quarter to keep the flexibility of the moving parts.
